Electronic Lab Notebook(ELN)
Electronic Lab notebook is an "out of the box" solution that as standard has fully configurable forms to comply with the requirements of regulated environment.
Sophisticated electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) having facility for inclusion of structures, spectra, chromatograms, pictures, text, etc where a preconfigured form is less appropriate. All data within Electronic Lab notebook is stored in database management software and is therefore fully searchable. The unique flexibility of Electronic Lab Notebook means that data can be collected, stored and retrieved through any combination of forms and/or ELN that best meets the requirements of the user.
In todays modern world ELN replaces the traditional paper base document to paperless lab. These softwares were fully compliant with 21 CFR Part 11 requirements.
Go green world
Laboratory Information Management System(LIMS)
Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) are information management systems designed specifically for the analytical laboratory. This includes research and development (R&D) labs, in-process testing labs, quality assurance (QA) labs, and more.
LIMS meets all GLP requirements by providing full sample tracking, user certification, instrument and calibration management, standards & reagents management, full auditing, CFR21 Part 11, report and sample scheduling, bar coding, on-line help, and many other functions.
Today's commercial LIMS offer a high degree of flexibility and functionality. Many of the most popular commercial LIMS take advantage of open systems architectures and platforms to offer client/server capabilities and enterprise-wide access to lab information. Web-based LIMS, or a web-based front-end to the LIMS, are also offered by many vendors.
XML, or eXtensible Markup Language, is being incorporated into LIMS because it can enhance the information in documents, simplify web automation, and integrate applications within or between organizations. XML not only offers a more streamlined way to transmit data to web applications, but it can also be validated.Perhaps XML can be considered the next generation LIMS

Scientific Database Management System (SDMS)
As laboratories move away from paper-based processes to paperless and start to leverage the benefits that come from electronic management of their data and reports, there is a need for a controlled, centralized system for storing, searching and retrieval of all of their electronic data including source information, raw data and generated reports.
Scientific Data Management System (SDMS) is an automated electronic repository that stores and manages all types of scientific data to a centralized database, offering excellent integration with a multitude of research applications. It's a documentation System for central, secure storage and retrieval of documents.
The result is a powerful and unique Scientific Data Management System that stores and manages scientific data and documentation and easily integrates with existing informatics systems such as LIMS, ELN, ERP and instrument data systems.
Using automated “file and print capture” technology, SDMS captures and stores the critical scientific data generated by any instrument or application. All data is automatically made searchable using advanced functionality
